Homes with doggy doors will NOT be considered for ANY Tails of Hope dog.

Dixon and his brother Mason were found running loose in Maryland- not safe for any dog, but especially dangerous for these boys considering Dixon is blind! Luckily he had Mason to show him around and keep him out of trouble until they were taken to the shelter. Both boys were terrified in the crowded shelter, so the staff asked Tails of Hope to take them into foster care.

Since arriving in his foster home, Dixon has made himself comfortable and gets around without much trouble. He can go up and down stairs, explore the yard, curl up on a fluffy bed, or find a foster friend to wrestle with. He loves the other dogs and has even been known to cuddle with the cats. Dixon is still a little nervous in new places but he loves to meet new people and pets. He is calm, quiet, and very gentle; he has learned that snuggling makes him happy and is now always on the lookout for a lap to curl up in. His wish list for a new home includes belly rubs, treats, stuffed toys, and a friendly pup or two to show him around. Dixon will require a home with a fenced yard.

Caring for a blind dog isn't as hard as you might think- Dixon responds well to verbal cues and his other keen senses help him to live a normal, happy life. Although Dixon is not completely housetrained, he has done well with a solid routine and lots of trips outside. He happily wears a belly-band when indoors.
