Walter is a senior blind dog rescued from Baltimore City. Dogs with a fabulous will and hopeful heart are Tails of Hope's reason for existence. Please donate for his care at http://www.tails-of-hope.org/info/donate.
Walter came into a Maryland shelter as a stray - imagine being a senior dog wandering the streets of a big city – NOW imagine being blind as well! He survived the dangers on the street and is the sweetest gentleman as confirmed by all who meet him! He just loves people not letting his blindness make him timid or leary...he's nuzzling toward you even as a stranger to please pet him.
He was seen by our vets to determine any existing medical issues - he's Lyme positive but many dogs show no symptoms of the disease or suffer with the positive results. He has a strong heart, good teeth and a surgeon will remove the large fatty tumor asap to make him more comfortable.
Walter is a very sweet gentleman and was the favorite at the shelter and at the 2 hour vet appointment with all the poking and prodding needing to be sure he was in good health. He hasn't had an accident in the house and is great with the other dogs of all ages and sizes in foster care. As with all sight impaired pets, a gentle hand and coaxing will be needed to guide him down steps and into unfamiliar areas. He is very cooperative of any coaxing and guidance and acclimates quickly responding to clapping or whistling to move in a desired direction.
