Athena is a 3 year old, female spayed (DOB May 2, 2002) black and white
terrier mix.
She is very anxious and will cower when voices get raised, even if the voices aren't raised at her
She LOVES couches and beds, especially if there are people in them
She is a snuggler, a kisser and a hugger.
She doesn't like rawhide or chewtoys, unless it means she can take one from another dog. She DOES like rope toys and things that squeak, especially if they are throwable and retrievable.
She loves to run and needs decent space to do so; one of her "jobs" at our house is to shoo the neighbor's cats and chickens out of our yard when necessary. She always moves them out, and always comes right back when called back. And she is always so proud of herself for her efforts!
She does need improvement on her leash manners. Any distractions along walks will result in tired human arms. And maintain a tight grip on the leash when walking anywhere there are squirrels.
She is one of the smartest dogs I know. She is also THE absolute sweetest.
She is excellet with cats and she is good with other dogs. She is completely house broken, and has never had an accident in my home since arriving. She is very obedient and loves to please. She walks well on leash, though she will pull at first until you command her to walk. I have a fenced yard, but she returns and listens very well if in a large open area. She loves to swim and ride in canoes, and is excellent in water
retrieval (She too loves vacations!). She rides very well in cars
uncrated on long trips. She loves sitting and looking out the mirror
all the way. She is a cuddler and loves to sleep in bed or lay with
you on the couch. She enjoys all sorts of toys such as plush toys with
sqeakers, balls, ropes, and nylabones. She is excellent with children of any age or any human for that matter.
She has a very mothering attitude and she always cleaning faces and
making over my other pets. I've had her around babies and children of
all ages. She does love to jump up and give you a kiss when you come
home, but is obiedient when told to stay down. She will make an amazing family member. She is a princess and needs a family who will treat her as such.
Athena MUST go to a home with another dog..and does not crate. If left alone too long, she can become a little destructive. She was living with Toby and adores him... he is also posted on our site.
